"The Arndt's Stout Roof Tree," a typewritten manuscript dictated by May Lamb in which she discusses her ancestors and her childhood in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The account describes her maternal grandparents, John Penn Arndt and Elizabeth Carpenter Arndt, the immigration of the Arndt family to Green Bay in 1824, their home on the east bank of the Fox River, domestic life in early Green Bay, relations with Indians, her grandfather's occupation as a shipbuilder and ferry operator, and other family members.
